FACE TOP Clinic by Mahdi Fakhimi

DESIGN NAME:
FACE TOP

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Clinic

INSPIRATION:
Design, construction and execution contract of this project entitled FACE TOP CLINIC was concluded in summer 2011for a cosmetic surgery consultation clinic. After the field studies in the previous clinic place and designing the questionnaire and interviewing with patients and clients, we found that this reason was the perfect cause of this design style. We noticed that all clients came to this cosmetic surgery clinic for examination and consultation before surgery and for consultation and examination after surgery. Therefore, there were extensive anxiety and stress resulting from the nature and manner of this process and benign or malign cosmetic surgery on their face in waiting room and among the patients. Hence, design of this project started to reduce stress and anxiety and also inspire patients with comfort. In this way based on continuous surface method and use of lines and curve surfaces instead of sharp and angled lines and also utilization of mild cold color (blue, gray and white) as the main tone of space and also prevention from direct, point and even local lighting and selection of layered and hidden lighting without any visibility of lamp and lighting source which cause phenomenon of glaring so that only while uniform surfaces of the ceiling are considered as light reflective elements were considered as topics of design theory of this project.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The unique points in design of this project with continuous surface style: 1- continuous surface which should be used not only in ceiling and perhaps walls but also all elements of space should be involved in this design style as far as possible. 2- Continuous surface which relates not only one space but also different spaces despite independence (unity versus plurality), 3- continuous surface which has been applied even in design of all furniture of different spaces of the project including waiting , reception, physician rooms and even W.C.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The key point in design of this project with continuous surface style was that unlike most of the works which have been done up to now with this style and we know, we tried to complete this style in this project.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in summer 2011 in Tehran and finished in spring 2013.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
In construction and execution of this project, it was necessary to use the materials which are built uniformly and seamlessly in addition to its luster due to special importance of space uniformity based on design. Therefore, drywall system was used in implementation of the ceilings and acrylic paint was used as healing. In walls, a combination of drywall system and traditional brick and plaster system were used and acrylic color was used as healing. In flooring, four-layered decorative epoxy material was used where we paid attention to perfect and exact execution and finally, delicacy and accuracy were applied to implement gray blue curve surface which was expanded among the solid white surface of floor seamlessly and uniformly.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The project is located in an apartment with area of 88 m2 on the second floor of a building in Mirdamad Street, Tehran.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
After the field studies in the previous clinic place and designing the questionnaire and interviewing with patients and clients, we found that this reason was the perfect cause of this design style.

CHALLENGE:
Perhaps, the important point was the full consistency between color of ceiling and walls (acrylic paint) and flooring paint (epoxy paint) and color of furniture (artificial leather) and this important challenge led us to produce the related paints in the site with trial and error method to paint the surface with equal color and continue this method until we reach a desirable color.
